The Food City concept is new to the Carlisle district. We began the “Food Carlisle” journey in late 2012, with an initial exploratory meeting with key partners. This initial meeting resulted in a stakeholder event, held in March 2013, which explored the key themes, whilst engaging with partners, obtaining sign up and sampling a locally sourced and prepared lunch (by rising chef stars from Carlisle College). Key partners include, among others: Carlisle City Council, the NHS, Cumbria County Council, local sustainability groups, local producers and Carlisle College. We have established a web page and twitter account and will be developing a partnership Charter and Action Plan.
Briefing notes have been produced. For details of the documents so far, please visit Food Carlisle webpage.
