Sugar Smart Webinar: sugar reduction in schools and school meals

07 February 2019 14:00 - 07 February 2019 15:30
Online webinar

Join us for our next Sustainable Food Cities webinar on working with schools and school caterers to reduce sugar consumption in schools, from school meals to birthdays, special occasions and packed lunches. One in three children leave primary school overweight or obese, so this is a crucial period to support them to develop healthier eating habits that will serve them for the rest of their lives. Our webinar will share brilliant examples from SUGAR SMART schools improving their school food culture to do just that.

SUGAR SMART Islington will share their sugar reduction pilot project with their school caterer, which led to a 50% reduction in sugar in their school meals.

SUGAR SMART Bath & North East Somerset will showcase their work with local schools to tackle the prevalence of sugar beyond school meals - at holidays and special occasions, fundraisers and rewards structures.

Registration is open to current and prospective SUGAR SMART campaign leads, councils, organisations, other settings and individuals. Please share this webinar with your schools and school caterers networks.

And if you haven't already, please register to Go SUGAR SMART on our website to access resources, advice and support:
