Third of Britons have stopped or reduced eating meat

06 November 2018

A revolution in UK eating habits is underway according to findings by Waitrose's annual food and drink report. One in eight Britons are now vegetarian or vegan and a further 21% claim to be flexitarian, where their diet is primarily plant-based and occasionally supplemented with meat. Report also found that people in the 18-to-34 age group were more likely to switch to veganism, with much less enthusiasm among the over-55s. More info.

This is great news but meat reduction should go hand in hand with more local, seasonal vegetables, rather than exotic vegetables imported from other continents. Learn more about what cities and other local areas are doing on Veg Cities.
