Coca-Cola scales back UK Christmas truck tour after protests

Coordinated efforts by national and local Sugar Smart campaigns have succeeded in reducing by more than a 1/3 the number of visits planned by the Coca Cola Christmas Truck Tour.

Local Councils have voiced their opposition and Public Health England issued guidance warning of the impact of such marketing promotions on the prevalence of diet-related issues such as obesity and tooth decay.

An Open Letter to Coca-Cola has been signed by 86 signatories representing 30 local authorities and 44 food and health organisations.

Alongside the letter, Sustain has launched a public e-action asking Tour hosts Asda and Tesco not to let Coke hand out sugary drinks on their land, and review hosting the tour in the future. Please take the e-action and promote it through your networks.
