Newcastle and Islington launch Sugar Smart campaigns

SUGAR SMART Newcastle Campaign aims to improve city's oral health and access to free water
SUGAR SMART Newcastle is the latest sugar reduction campaign to launch on Wednesday 14th November, with an impressive partnership including the Newcastle Hospitals Trust , council-run school meals service, oral health leads and Refill joining forces to tackle the impacts of sugar overconsumption on their local communities, with a particular focus on oral health and reducing fizzy drinks consumption. Newcastle is the 29th area to launch SUGAR SMART.



SUGAR SMART Islington launch celebrates progress in school

Islington is the latest local area to launch their SUGAR SMART Campaign and join our growing national network. They are working with partners including schools caterer Caterlink, leisure provider GLL, Emirates Stadium, home of Arsenal Football Club, and London Metropolitan University, among others, to take on a strong cross-sector approach to improving the borough’s food environments and encourage people to reduce the amount of sugar they consume in an effort to tackle serious health conditions.
