West of England gathers 100 food procurement bodies to discuss health and sustainability

On Wednesday 1st February over 100 procurement representatives from schools, hospitals, leisure centres, visitor attractions, workplaces and universities took part in a conference, with each delegate making pledges to drive interventions for health and sustainability in their organisation.
A dozen local producers and suppliers attended the conference and made a pitch to buyers.

The event was jointly hosted by Bath & North East Somerset Council and Bristol City Council as part of the West of England Food Procurement Group.

Both Councils hope to help connect regional businesses with local food suppliers and producers, reduce food miles and increase access to healthy, sustainable and affordable food.

Bath and North East Somerset Local Food Partnership and Bristol City Council coordinate this Food Procurement Group to progress on their Sustainable Food Cities journey.
