National Planning Policy Framework updated to encourage creation of healthier food environments

DCLG have updated the National Planning Policy Framework with advice on creating a healthier food environment to help reduce overweight and obesity in local communities.

Local planning authorities are encouraged to support access to a range of healthier food production and consumption choices and work with local public health colleagues.

A range of measures for consideration are set out, including limiting proliferation of certain use classes and provision of allotments.
