Food Citizenship Workshop with Anna Cura of the Food Ethics Council

Much has been made of the changes we need to make if we are to reduce the impact of climate change. And our food systems are under great strain to respond adequately to feed 9 billion people by 2050.

Anna Cura from the Food Ethics Council will be running a workshop with the objective of answering, as a group of interested parties involved in the food economy and systems of Newcastle-Gateshead: “How do we accelerate the transition from consumer to citizen as the dominant mindset in the food system?”

Drawing on the recent Food Citizenship Report produced by the New Citizenship Project with support from the Food Ethics Council, this workshop will benefit those working in, studying, or dealing with food hardship and poverty, food cultures, working as food writers, bloggers, food artists and activists, and anyone involved in our local food systems, from bakers to farmers to restaurant owners. The more diverse the voices, the more likely we are to create meaningful change.
