27 October 2017

Ministers have announced the restriction of the promotion of food and drink high in fat, sugar and salt in areas around visitor attractions and in proximity to schools, and have called UK Government to ban broadcast of TV adverts for unhealthy food before the 21:00 watershed. These measures have been announced as part of the Scottish Government's new diet and obesity strategy to help people lose weight. Voices from UK food and health campaigners have called on the UK Government to follow suit.

Public health minister Aileen Campbell launched a consultation on the plans on diet, activity and healthy weight and stresses the need for cross-sector collaboration.
